Naomi Stein in No Mans Land
What do you get when you mix a first generation Jew with a 12th generation WASP? A lot of tsuris, and a show! In No Man’s Land, Naomi Stein explores the experience of being “half-Jewish, and the dissent over descent, through story and song.” Come see this work in progress showing as Naomi throws the spaghetti of her thoughts against the wall and you inform what schtick sticks! Hear the ridiculous stories of finding a partner on JMate, meet the characters who shaped her decisions, & listen to a voice coming from No Man’s Land. Directed by Corey Fischer.

Felonious in Curren$y (hip hop Merchant)
Curren$y is an all-female rap show based on The Merchant of Venice. Featuring rappers and actors performing with a live hip band, this 30-minute selection brings you inside the world of Venice City, a bustling metropolis filled with chaos and divisions. The city is changing. Class and religion divides us. Hate and fear fuels our ignorance. And money is what drives us all.

Felonious uses rhythm and rhyme to flip religion, sexism, xenophobia, legal status, gender, and privilege inside out over a live beat. They use Shakespeare’s characters as containers, to anchor themselves at the dawn of the 17th Century only to find eerie echoes of present day America—Sometimes it takes more than a pound of flesh.

Alison De La Cruz in Rooster Boi
Also known as The Adventures of Rooster Boi: A Butch Hula Cover Album Ballet—this fantastical queer fairy tale chronicles the urban Los Angeles barnyard yearnings of Rooster Boi, a queer hen. Join Rooster Boi as s/he travels during Mercury Retrograde searching for undiscovered truths and gnawing desires.

Dramaturgs from Literary Managers & Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA) will lead talkbacks for the companies at each Raw Materials performance, giving the audience a voice and the artists new insights. LMDA & foolsFURY first partnered in 2013, connecting dramaturgs with the ensemble companies presenting fresh works-in-progress to FURY Factory Festival of Ensemble and Devised Theater. Learn more about the partnership (and hey – dramaturgy too) at lmda.org. Join LMDA Dramaturgy Facilitator Emily DeDakis, and other Bay Area dramaturgs, for a meet & greet during the festival.
